In November 1860, just days after winning the Presidential election, famed artist Leonard Volk was commissioned to render a bronze bust of President-elect Abraham Lincoln.  Volk created a plaster mask directly off of Lincoln's face.  Despite this, Lincoln was unhappy with the result and commented, "What have you done to my eyes?  You've made me appear as a sad, old man."  Volk, greatly offended, placed his thumbs on both eye sockets of the plaster and pushed the eyes down even further.  Volk's work was then cast exactly as the artist left it.  To this day, these bronze casts are often mistaken for Abraham Lincoln's death mask.

We have cast Lincoln's lifemask in our own California art foundry using pure bronze.  The sculpture is finished with a black patina.  Mounted onto a green marble base, it stands 14" tall.

This is a fine bronze sculpture, made to high standards.  We guarantee your satisfaction.
