"Au Coup de Fusil" by Eglantine Lemaître

 

This fine pair of pointers alerted by the sound of a rifle shot was sculpted by famed canine sculptor Eglantine Lemaître (French, 1852-1920).  Au Coup de Fusil (or, in English, The Shot) has very nice detail and makes an elegant addition to a traditional home or office setting.  Please be sure to click on the "View More Images" link above to see additional views.

 

We have cast this sculpture in our own California art foundry using 26 lbs. (12 kg) of pure bronze.  It features a rich patina finish in tones of browns, with the rear dog slightly darker than the dog in the foreground.  The bronze is mounted onto a custom-cut green marble base, and stands 10½" high by 18" wide (27 cm high x 46 cm wide).  The sculpture is signed "Eg. Lemaitre" in its bronze base and is marked with the title "AU COUP DE FUSIL".
