One of artist C.H. Montgomery's "pin-up girl" series, this bronze is a modern adaptation of a popular late 19th century sculpture entitled Awakening. In his version of this theme, Montgomery depicts a svelte seaside girl reveling in the sun, attired in cut-off denim shorts and deck shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and a floppy beach hat. Montgomery has built a strong following for his tongue-in-cheek renderings of familiar themes and everyday items. His work's fresh perspective and clean lines harken back to simpler times.
We have cast Beach Girl in our own California art foundry using 28 lbs. (13 kg) of pure bronze. The sculpture is finished with a classic patina in tones of amber and brown, with highlights of denim blue and cotton white. Mounted onto a black marble base, it stands a substantial 31" (76 cm) tall. The artist has signed his name in its bronze base and we have added our foundry seal.
This sculpture is one of an edition of just 360 castings, with the individual number of each casting stamped into the bronze.
