This iconic Western artwork was sculpted by James Earle Fraser (American, 1876-1953) in 1914.

We believe that this specific sculpture was cast as an artist's proof and used by Fraser to refine his ideas for the monumental statue installed at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915 in San Francisco.

End of the Trail depicts the raw emotion of an Indian fighter with his horse, both exhausted after years of a losing battle to hold back White settlers and their army. They have truly reached the end of their trail.  The horse stands on a rectangular rocky bronze base with nice detailing.  Please be sure to click on the "View More Images" link above to see additional views of this sculpture.

The sculpture has been cast of solid bronze, with the addition of bronze rod in the Indian's spear and patinated copper wire as the reins.  The sculpture stands 13" high by 10½" wide.  It carries a rich greenish-brown patina.  Consistent with its age, there are one or two small abrasion marks, but these in no way detract from the beauty of the artwork.  Since the sculpture was cast by the artist as a proof, it was left unsigned.

This is a unique opportunity to own a rare work of art that will be treasured by many future generations.  We guarantee your satisfaction.
