A famous image of Italian Renaissance sculpture, this statue depicts one of the twelve mythic labors of Hercules.  The original was sculpted by Pietro Rossi, a follower of Michelangelo, for the Palazzo Vecchio in 1550.  The sculpture depicts Hercules throwing Antaeus to his death by his own man-eating mares.  The sculpture needs to be seen from all angles to appreciate the intricate interlocking of bodies engaged in mortal combat.  Please click on the thumbnail images above to see additional views of these wrestlers, and then click on any image to enlarge it.
We have cast Hercules and Antaeus in our own California art foundry using 23 lbs. (10.5 kg) of pure bronze.  The sculpture is finished with a classic patina in tones of browns.  It stands 15½" tall by 7" wide by 5" deep (39 cm high x 18 cm wide x 13 cm deep).
This is a fine bronze sculpture, made to high standards.  We guarantee your satisfaction.
