"L'Amour Vainqueur" by A. Itasse and W. Bouguereau

This stunning bronze sculpture was sculpted by Adolphe Itasse (French, 1830-1893) based upon a painting by William Bouguereau (French, 1825-1905). Its title L'Amour Vainqueur or, in English, Winner of Love, refers to an allegorical tale of Cupid winning the love of a young maiden and carrying her up through a sea of billowing clouds. We have cast L'Amour Vainqueur in our own California art foundry using 60 lbs. (27 kg) of pure bronze. The sculpture is finished with a classic patina in tones of browns and amber. Mounted onto a black marble base, it stands a substantial 27" high by 18" wide (69 cm high x 46 cm wide). The bronze is signed "A Itasse / Scup / 1887" and engraved "IV BOUGUEREAU INV" and carries our Art Bronze foundry seal.
