"Accolade" by Pierre-Jules Mêne

 

This spirited stallion is one of  the most famous sculptures by French artist Pierre-Jules Mene (1810-1879).  Our version of Mene's sculpture features the original landscape favored by the artist over later versions often reproduced elsewhere.  Please be sure to click on the "View More Images" link above to see additional views.

 

We have cast Accolade in our own California art foundry using over 15 lbs. (7 kg) of pure bronze.  The sculpture is finished with a traditional patina in tones of brown.  Accolade is mounted onto a marble base, and stands 12" high by 16" wide by 8" deep (30.5 cm high by 41 cm wide by 20 cm deep).  It is signed "P.J. MENE" in its bronze base.
