"Sapho" by Emmanuel Villanis

 

This magnificent bronze of the poet Sappho was created by Emmanuele Villanis (French, 1858-1914).  The artist has created a truly beautiful artwork that is at home in any setting.  Please be sure to click on the "View More Images" link above to see additional views.

We have cast Sapho in our own California art foundry using 45 lbs. (20 kg) of pure bronze.  The sculpture is finished with a deep, rich patina in tones of amber and brown.  Mounted onto a marble base, it stands 25" high by 13" wide (63 cm high x 33 cm wide).  The sculpture is signed "E Villanis" on its left shoulder.
