This is a very unique sculpture by California artist C.H. Montgomery.
It depicts the outline of a person snuggling up inside a sleeping bag which is itself placed inside a clam shell. The bronze shell is hinged so it can be kept open or closed. The bronze sleeping bag is removable, leaving a space underneath to perhaps store a set of pearls? Sleeper in Shell is mounted onto a black marble base, measures 8" high (with the shell fully open) by 8" wide by 5" deep, and is initialed by the artist on the inside of the clam shell. It is from a limited edition of just 50 castings, each individually numbered in the bronze.
