"The Wicked Pony" by Frederic Remington

 

Inspired by a real-life event, this Remington bronze sculpture depicts a fallen rider attempting to wrestle his horse to the ground in a desperate attempt to regain control.  Grabbing the animal's ear with one hand, the rider's body is vulnerable as the horse retaliates by kicking the rider with his hind legs.  In The Wicked Pony, Frederic Remington has memorialized the harsh reality and untamed forces of the Old West.

We have cast The Wicked Pony in our own California art foundry using 44 lbs. (20 kg) of pure bronze.  It is finished with a patina in tones of browns and amber.  Mounted onto a marble base, it stands 23" high by 22" wide (58 cm high x 56 cm wide).  The sculpture is signed "Frederic Remington" in its bronze base and is stamped with its unique number in our edition limited to 500 castings.
