This is a fine sculpture of the Venus de Milo, also called Aphrodite of Melos, cast in bronze by the famed Barbedienne foundry in Paris in the late 19th century. It was created by Barbedienne as a reduction of the original Greek marble in the Louvre Museum. Please click on the thumbnail images above to see additional views .
Venus de Milo stands 19" high. The sculpture has a gorgeous brown patina. It is marked with the Barbedienne foundry name and the Achille Collas reduction seal on the rear side of the base. The sculpture is in very good condition, with minor discoloration and abrasions consistent with its age of over 100 years.
